The non-linear response of circadian entrainment to light brightness. (a) shows a non-linear light entrainment response, with a stronger pickup of melatonin suppression around 300 lux [1]. The two figures in (b) show similar non-linear responses, comparing data on melatonin suppression (A) and circadian phase shift (B). The shaded region is the 95% confidence limit. Similarly, the data shows a strong pickup in light entrainment response around 100 lux to 300 lux [7].
