In December 2022 we announced our membership of the UN SDG Publishers Compact, and in May 2023 we announced about the new ‘EDP Sciences: UN SDGs research collection’ on ScienceOpen. Several EDP Sciences journals have already pledged their commitment to the SDGs including Sustainable Buildings.
Sustainable Buildings promotes and supports papers and special issues that contribute to the achievement of the UN's sustainable development goals, in particular SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). The journal is included in the EDP Sciences: UN SDGs research collection on ScienceOpen.
The aim of Sustainable Buildings is to develop an inter-disciplinary platform for the dissemination of knowledge and practice on the engineering and technical issues concerning all aspects of building design, technology, energy and environmental performance. The result is an eminently useful publication for researchers, academics, students and industry professionals. The journal will be a key resource for engineers, architects, physicists, urban designers and researchers working to meet the challenges of sustainable buildings. Sustainable Buildings is awarded the DOAJ Seal which “is awarded to journals that demonstrate best practice in open access publishing”. Only around 10% of journals indexed in the DOAJ are awarded the DOAJ Seal, so it is a gratifying mark of recognition of the excellent work Sustainable Buildings is doing.
Journal topics include Sustainable Integration of the Natural and Built Environment, Technologies in Sustainable Buildings, Thermal or electrical energy storage in buildings, Smart Monitors and Intelligent Building Controls, etc. (all topics). At the end of last year, Sustainable Buildings welcomed the new Editor-in-Chief Dr. David Goodfield, who gave the journal a new start, together with a new Editorial Board.
